Select Program (PD Panthers)
The goal of the Player Development (PD) Program is to provide additional opportunities for house league players to develop their skating and hockey skills. All players registered in the C.A.L. house league program are eligible to participate in the PD Program from Novice (U9) to Midget (U18), in the division that their birth year permits
It is recommended that PD coaches (U11 and older) have a NCCP Development 1 certification within the current season. For U9, the Coach 1 coaching certification is mandatory, no exceptions.
Player selection will take place once players are registered for house league teams. Dates and times for the on-ice evaluations will be posted in late August. Players must be on the ice for an evaluation of their abilities to take place and must attend both of the on-ice evaluations. In the case of extenuating circumstances, exceptions may be made by the PD Convenor on a case-by-case basis.
Online Registration is encouraged to register for the assessments. For those who choose not to pre-register online, there will be a “walk on” fee of $100 payable at the first evaluation, and those players may be required to attend a later assessment date and time depending on the number of players who have pre-registered. If vacancies in any development group exist, registrations received after this deadline must be approved by the PD Convenor.
Our Panthers teams are formed with up to 19 players to provide maximum opportunity for access to the PD program. The number of players selected for each team will be determined by the PD coach and PD Convenor at the given level.
Due to Public Health Measures, no post-evaluations will take place.
Games, Practices And Tournaments
Teams are may play a maximum of three (3) exhibition games per month, and each team is permitted to play in three (3) tournaments during the season as permitted by OMHA regulation 4.4.h. Each team will have tw0 (2) ice times per week, for their practices and games.
Player’s Responsibilities
PD team members’ first responsibility is to the regularly-scheduled games, practices and tournaments of their house league teams, except for those PD tournaments designated by the PD program.
In situations where there is a conflict between a house league and a PD game, PD team members must attend their house league games.
Failure to attend house league games and/or practices due to participation in a PD event, without prior approval from the house league coach in consultation with the PD Convenor, may result in disciplinary action by the Discipline Committee.
