Initiation Program – CAL IP

The CAL’s Initiation Program (IP) is where learning to play hockey, starts. The CAL IP is designed for new players aged 5 – 7 years old. Players typically stay with the program for 2 years before progressing to Tyke.

CAL IP runs for 20 weeks from October through the first weekend in March.

CAL IP teams will be created in the beginning of October. You will receive a phone call and/or email advising of your player’s team and first ice time

CAL IP sessions are scheduled for Saturday afternoons at the Kingston Memorial Centre, 303 York Street in central Kingston. The schedule is rotational beginning at noon and ending at 4:00 pm. each Saturday afternoon.

Players are on the ice for 50 minutes and must wear full hockey equipment, mouth guard, and have a hockey stick.

Players will learn hockey fundamentals on a half-ice format and play half-ice shinny games after Christmas with other CAL IP teams, including those at Fort Henry. Some sessions will be at the Constantine Arena after the Christmas break.
