Hockey Programs

71559 471948676176324 433780670 nThe CAL is a non-body checking House League Minor Hockey Association for Kingston and area youth. All of our hockey teams have OMHA & Hockey Canada certified volunteer coaches and volunteer coaching staff.   The teams are part of a church, geographical or organizational based club. The CAL club system allows for returning players, siblings & family members to be part of the same club, season after season. (Returning players are required to register with the Association for which they played the previous season prior to the 3rd Friday of August. If more players are registered for a team by the deadline than there is space, the surplus player rules will prevail. CAL Hockey Handbook  2014)

The CAL runs teams in the following divisions based on the player's age on December 31st:

  • Initiation Program ....... age 5 - 7

399940 250722468405427 1896512329 nPlayer Development (PD) Program

The goal of the Player Development (PD) Program is to provide additional opportunities for house league players to develop their skating and hockey skills. All players registered in the C.A.L. house league program and resident of the same area used for determining eligibility for "A" category hockey in District 6, Kingston Area, are eligible to participate in the PD Program in the division that their birth year permits (normally the same division as their house league registration).

Interested players must attend several skills assessment on-ice sessions in mid September. Players for 1 mixed team per division are selected based on demonstrated skills at the on-ice sessions. The PD coaches are selected based on their advanced qualifications, experience with the program and positive feedback from players and parents.

The PD Program (Panthers Teams) provide players with 2 ice times per week in addition to their house league teams games and practices. There are weekly practices and each team plays on average, 3 games per month (normally playing against other Roster Select {PD Teams} from other Minor Hockey Associations - which enhances skating and skill development opportunities), and they play in 3 tournaments per season.

Full hockey gear is required at each practice and game including a mouthguard. No exceptions are allowed.
